It is an opportunity for us to welcome all freshmen and women to this citadel of learning where you will be given education for self reliance. Kwara State College of Education (Technical), Lafiagi is one of the tertiary institutions in Kwara State which offers education for the total man. I therefore welcome you to the college and as well implore you to utilize fully all the opportunities which will be offered you to make you a real educated person.

Your first step to success here is to read with full concentration the content of this handbook. The handbook contains all the information you should know so that you will be well guided because ignorance is not an excuse in law. The handbook is therefore like a compass which the naval officer on the sea relies upon in order to get to base safely.
The college is one of the most peaceful colleges in the country and it is your responsibility to sustain this. The college as you will find out is a miniature Nigeria because almost all tribes and tongues are represented so it will be easy for you to interact without any inhibition.

The college has developed appreciably especially with numerous renovations and constructions of new buildings which serve as classrooms and offices for both staff and students. The library is well stocked with modern textbooks and internet facilities to make you obtain information from all over the world. The new administration in the college has introduced shift system in the college library so the library now opens from 8am – 9pm. The shift system will soon be extended to Saturdays.

Recently a 30- sitter coastal bus and 300 KVA generators were purchased through the Education Trust fund (ETF) intervention. An office complex through the same body is almost completed.

The state Government under the leadership of Dr. Bukola Saraki has always been supportive. As a visitor of the college he has shown keen interest in the development of the college. Recently a motorized bore hole was provided for the college to minimize students’ hardship in getting good water. The students’ hostels were also renovated by the Government. A 250KVA transformer was also donated to the college. The Government has not in anyway defaulted in the monthly subvention given to the college. The Lafiagi Community also has always been supportive. As the host community they have been very accommodating. The college and the Government will therefore expect you to justify these huge investments by exhibiting greater sense of responsibility and civility. You should always remember your parents’ yearning to make you a responsible person. So you should avoid cultism and all social vices.
